Six questions, one honest read of your hair
Most hair advice fails because it is aimed at an average head of hair that belongs to nobody. This takes about two minutes, runs entirely in your browser, and tells you which of the common problems is actually yours — plus the three things worth changing first.

What this test cannot see
Six questions cannot measure density, coverage, or what your scalp actually looks like — and self-reporting is the weakest kind of input. Kera reads those from a photo, turns them into a routine with your answers, and tracks whether the routine is working. It is free to start, and there is a questionnaire mode if you would rather not upload a photo.
What the six questions are actually measuring
Behind the questions are five numbers: how much moisture your hair loses, whether its protein structure is intact, how your scalp behaves between washes, how much accumulated damage it carries, and whether shedding is the real complaint. Almost every routine mistake we see is one of these being treated as another — dry hair fed more protein, over-conditioned hair fed more oil, a scalp problem treated as a lengths problem.
The stretch question does the most work. Hair that stretches like chewing gum and stays stretched has lost protein structure; hair that snaps at once is dehydrated. They look identical in the mirror and they need opposite corrections, which is why the protein and moisture balance is the one piece of hair theory worth learning properly.
What to do with the result
Change one thing, then wait. Hair grows about a centimetre a month, so a change made today shows up in a visible way somewhere between six weeks and three months from now — and a routine changed weekly can never be evaluated at all. Pick the first action, keep the rest of your routine still, and take a photo in the same light every couple of weeks so the comparison is real rather than remembered.
Common questions
Is this a hair analysis?
No. It is six self-reported questions, which is enough to sort you into a broad pattern and rule a few things out. A real analysis reads texture, density, coverage and scalp condition from a photograph. That is what the Kera app does; this page is the free, rough version of it.
Do you store my answers?
No. The test runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no sign-up, and closing the tab erases it.
Can it tell me why I am losing hair?
It cannot, and neither can any other questionnaire. Shedding has causes that only blood work and an examination can separate — thyroid problems, iron deficiency, autoimmune conditions, medication side effects. If shedding is sudden, patchy, or getting worse, see a doctor.
Why does it ask me to pull a hair?
The stretch test is the fastest way to tell over-conditioned hair from dry hair, and the two need opposite fixes. A strand that stretches and stays limp needs protein; one that snaps straight away needs moisture. Use a hair from your brush, not one still attached.
